Accommodation in São Paulo - where to stay?
The District of Butantã, where Cidade Universitária is located, is close to highly valued areas of the city such as Luis Carlos Berrini and André Rebouças, Mayor Faria Lima and Paulista Avenues, inserted in São Paulo tourism clusters as defined by São Paulo Convention & Visitors Bureau and analysed by Soares (2017) in his doctoral thesis.
In the 5 Tourism Clusters identified in the Figure below we can highlight the presence of 175 Hotels, which represent 35% of the approximately 480 Hotels present in the city. On the other hand, these establishments account for 70% of the hotels’ rooms (Soares, 2017, p.31) existing in São Paulo, which gives them, therefore, a clear role in providing lodging services in the city.
These hotels belong mostly to international hotel chains such as Accor, Meliã, Atlântica Hotels, Transamérica, IHG, Pestana, Hyatt, among others. In addition, the fact that hotels in São Paulo are heavily used by a demand for business travelers explains, in some cases, promotional fares on weekends.
